Hi Guys!
I hope you all had a great week and are heading into the weekend with some things to look forward to. That's why you work so hard right; to enjoy life. I went to Michael's and used my 40% off coupon and bought a little pink package of the Craftsmart brand's Polymer clay in Pink. It was $1.49 and I got 60 cents off making it a total of 89 cents! Under a buck = happy me. Looks like I could probably make about 4 of these rings with this small package. Good thing I bought a small one to try because I considered the larger package but I thought I'd give it a shot before really diving in. I'm pretty sure I rolled the clay into a ball about 12 times before I was happy with my bow, so patience is somewhat required :]
Materials Needed:
Directions (Photos): Let me know if you have any questions.
Fold the outsides into the middle and then cut a skinny strip to fold over the middle (like in photo below). Then cut another strip and wrap it around the finger you'd like to wear the ring on and use your fingers to push the clay together a bit (so it sticks).
I followed the directions on the clay wrapper and it said to bake for 15 minutes for every 1/4 inch. I ended up baking mine for 30 minutes.
It still has some give when you first take it out of the oven so be careful. Let it sit and cool for a while (I let mine sit for half an hour) and then you should be able to wear it :]

ReplyDeleteThanks!! I was happy that it required very few materials. Definitely a D-I-Y worth making. So happy to see that you're in the city!!! I haven't met too many bloggers from the Bay Area :]

this is so sweet. you could make so many different jewelry things with that clay. Thanks for your sweet comment. I'm currently in love with Portland; it's a great place to be for art and design.
