hey there!
here's another post on a fun and easy d-i-y! i made a bracelet the other day inspired by a bracelet i saw from anthropologie. today, it's a bracelet inspired by chan luu.
take the cord and thread it through one hole and into the other. the button should be pulled to the middle of the cord
then clip the button to a piece of cardboard with the binder clip
clip the cord on the other side as well like in the photo below
thread a needle and find a place to secure the thread (i did this with the button held down by the binder clip but i took it off to show you)
then thread a bead through the needle
then the needle comes over the top of the right hand side cord, then under the left hand side cord like in the photo below:
after it goes under, use you right hand index finger to hold the bead in the middle of the 2 cords and then the needle goes over the top of the left hand side cord >> through the bead >> and under the right hand side cord like in the photo below:
progress looks like this ...
when you get to your last bead, tie 2 knots to close of the end of the bracelet
then measure it where'd you'd like the bracelet to wrap around your wrist and tie a circle that the button/bead can fit through like in the photo below:
and you get your very own diy inspired chan luu ...
don't mind the gap, i ran out of red beads so i thought i'd just tie a loop :]
this should get you closer to channeling your chan luu chic-ness ... at least i think ... a little red for valentine's day.

chan luu's bracelets are so delicate and pretty. if only i could make enough to have in a boutique and present them the way she does ...
photo borrowed from chanluu.com - $ 230.00 purchase here: http://www.chanluu.com/Wrap-Bracelets-p/bg-2605webredcorbrn.htm
i decided to use some materials i already had so i wouldn't
a. have to run to the store
b. have to spend any more money
so the combination may not be exactly that of an actual chan luu design but you get the idea. at some point, i'm going to get the materials - i digress.
materials needed:
- natural linen cord (found at michael's for $2, made about 8 bracelets)
- red loose beads or any beads of your choice (repurposed from an old necklace)
- measuring tape
- bead or button (leftover from other projects)
- clipboard or cardboard of some sort
- 2 binder clips
- scissors
- thread
- total of about 1 hour per bracelet
directions with photos:

Thank you so much for these instructions. A friend told me I could find them on Fire Mountain Gems, but I haven't been able to. I am really excited to try it and can't wait to make my bracelet!
