I have a fun and easy DIY for you today. They're artificial pink peonies in a vase that you can keep around forever. Forever is the best part for me here. I've never really been a fan of real, live, flowers because while I love them, it saddens me when they die and wilt & I'm left with no choice but to toss them out as fertilizer. It feels like wasted money, and if there's one thing I don't like - it's that. The thought is always nice (to receive and send flowers), but what about sending some real florals and then following it up with some of these? It's the gift that keeps on giving. This all really came about because I received some flowers for my birthday recently. While I loved them, I was so sad when only after a few days (4-5) they died. I decided that I love having fresh florals in the home but what was more important to me was the colorful inspirational feeling it provided. So I recreated a lasting look with artificial peonies. I may occasionally pick up some flowers at a local farmers market but for a daily dose of happy, I'm happy with these.
Materials:
Some peonies from Ikea ($2 each) x 5
Vase (old)
Wire cutters
10 minutes
Directions:
First measure how you want the peonies to sit in your vase and bend the wire and insert into the vase. Then cut to desired length.
I put 5 peonies into my vase because I like how they bunch up together. I also cut them very short so that you don't see a stem.
I tied the flowers together so they sit in a bunch and don't topple over. This is just my personal preference. I am really happy with the results and have definitely been inspired by the happy, cheery, pink color that has now been an addition to my coffee/work station/table.
